Happy 4th of July!

I hope you are having a smashingly wonderful day.

My weekend consisted of this:

Boxes, boxes, and more boxes!

Moving day is Thursday. My brain is going crazy trying to get all the little things done while everyone else is enjoying a day off.

However, I did take some time off of packing to watch some fireworks with my friend.

I’m not one to go all crazy for the Fourth and wear matching Red, White and Blue flag shirts…

Anyway, there are only a few days a year you can get away with wearing R, W, &B and you won’t get looked at twice.

But, it’s Phoenix…in July. It’s hot here, y’all.

This is the time of year when we are either neck deep in water or hibernating with our AC turned up HIGH.

I’m super proud of my skirt making skills. I found an extremely easy pattern online and went crazy. I’ve been cranking out skirts instead of packing boxes! Oops!

I wore one of my other creations to church yesterday and now I’m sure I’ll be making more for all my pals.

Life in the Sewing Room

I have tons, at least two drawers full, of old t-shirts. Kinda comes with all the fun of college. But, college was five years ago, and I never get a chance to wear t-shirts as much as I used to. Most of the ones I have all had a purpose in college, but don't really serve me well in professional settings! Since I had a lot of free time this week due to fall break, I found a great way to re purpose those drawer fulls of t's.

You could use these for shopping, library books, picnic/lunch carriers, school bag, sweet purse, or packed into your vacation luggage.









Directions:
1. Cut off sleeves
2. Cut two or three inches off the neckline, making sure it follows the curve of neck
3. Cut the corners of the shirt at an angle so the bottom of the bag does not pucker
4. Turn inside out and sew up bottom edge

You are done! 10 minutes tops!

I also found that tank tops work super well because you can skip steps 1 and 2!
If you want to get super creative, you could add braided handles like I did on the blue bag. I made about 10 bags in a few hours. I plan on using these for shopping and in my classroom for center activities and sending books home.
