Life in June: Tank Top Makeover

Catch up here!

 29things

Number 7: Change up your wardrobe with some scissors!

Tanktop Makeover

I love creating clothes that are all my own. If I find a shirt that too small or too big, I don’t let it stop me. Photo-6_6_13,-5.39.47-PM-10

If you don’t think this the best tank top, well then, you can’t sit with us!

Photo-6_6_13,-5.39.47-PM-9

While I was wandering around Target, I grabbed an extra small tank top to use as my fabric inserts.

Photo-6_6_13,-5.39.47-PM-8

Fold shirt on seams. Cut both sides together until you reach the point you’d like to stop your insert.

Photo-6_6_13,-5.39.47-PM-7

Cut one side of the extra shirt.

Photo-6_6_13,-5.39.47-PM-6

Lay shirts on top of each other. You’ll want to match the bottom edges together. Use your original tank top as your pattern.

Sorry this picture is so dark!

Photo-6_6_13,-5.39.47-PM-5

Cut the inserts in a triangle shape.

Now at this point you could sew the inserts into the tank top or you could use seam tape if you’re lazy, like me!

And there you have it!

Life in the Craft Room (Glitter Candle DIY)

Happy Tuesday!

While planning my latest party, I came across a super easy, super glittery, super fabulous DIY.

Has anyone figured out a way to get glitter off of things you don’t want it on?

Seriously. Sparkle on, people, sparkle on.

Life with a DIY (Easy Sugar Scrub)

Sugar Scrub

I kid you not, this DIY will take you two minutes at most!

You’ll Need:

*Brown and White Sugar

*Olive Oil and/or Grapeseed Oil

(I use a yummy chocolate olive oil that smells and tastes delicious!)

*Bowl to mix

*Jar to hold extras

Pour sugars into your bowl, add the oil, and mix.

That’s it!

Use this in the shower once a week or twice a month for super soft skin. If you have extra, put in a jar and place in the fridge for optimal freshness. This scrub also works great on lips, they’ll thank you!

Life in the Craft Room

Charming Charlie is my favorite place to buy jewelry. A few weeks ago there was a buy one get one free on all their clearance items. Huge deals all over the place. I found an ugly necklace that I wanted to dress up a little. AKA, mutilate and turn into something cute and wearable!

You’ll need:

An ugly necklace

Ribbon

Wire clippers

Bracelet closures

GEDC1864

Clip apart the chains.

Pick your ribbon and chain.

GEDC1865

You’ll want your ribbon to be twice the size (or larger) of the necklace. Thread ribbon through the top link.

GEDC1866

Lay the ribbon to one side, wrap one over the other and pull through the link.

GEDC1867

Continue around the bracelet.

GEDC1868

GEDC1879

This next one is the same except only use one side of the ribbon around the bracelet. I also left room on the end to make a ribbon tie.

GEDC1880

GEDC1881

This next one is a little more tricky, I call it the figure 8.

Leave ribbon on the end for a tie.

GEDC1883

Wrap through the link, pull under and over the bottom part of the link, then go through the next link. Continue to the end.

Life in the Craft/Class Room

If you’ve been around teachers during this time of the year, you’ll probably notice a few things.

1- We’re balls of frazzled/excited energy trying to get it all done.

2-We’re searching all over pinterest for classroom ideas.

3- We’re all asking each other, “What’s your classroom theme?”

For the last few years I’ve stuck with the simple black/white/pick a color scheme. I’ve used mostly pink and light reds. I’ve noticed that my classroom theme usually coordinates with the decorating colors in my house or in my wardrobe.

We all know how much I love stripes and all things blue and white.

So, long story short, my room is blue, white, and burlap. Original I know!

Ridiculous lead up to a really simple DIY that I used to spruce up my bulletin boards.

Life with Organization

We all know that I have a huge collection of jewelry and makeup.
It’s a little bit of a problem! The bigger problem was the organization behind it all. For the longest time I just had piles of necklaces in boxes, earrings in drawers, and my makeup was in a travel bag.
Needless to say, I couldn’t find anything. I wore the same things over and over because they were right on top.
Enter Pinterest. Last summer I took control over my mess and created some cool storage options.
I’ve written posts about these all before, but one of my friends asked if I could put them together in one place.

I don’t have a post for this, I hope it’s obvious!

And again, no tutorial for this one. I used craft sand and a cheap mug.

Hope you have some new ideas!
